Castle Hotel Hornby
The Grade II Castle Hotel in Hornby, Lancaster had fallen into severe disrepair and had extensive water penetration, dry rot, damp and structural decay and defects.
Working closely with the Senior Conservation Officer at Lancaster City Council, Damson agreed a strategy of repairs to refurbish and convert part of former hotel to six apartments and a smaller boutique hotel and restaurant.
The challenge was to meet acceptable standards for insulation whilst allowing the building to breath and protect the historic fabric of the building, particularly the oak roof structure.
Damson worked with Specialist Building Pathologists, Hutton and Rostron and Lancaster Engineers Thomas Associates along with Contractors Eric Wright Construction.
